SideReel

SideReel was a mature product when I joined in 2011. My role was a hybrid Agile Product Manager and Director of User Experience. Due to the flavor of agile undertaken and business needs, creation of new products and revision of existing products had to be accomplished in discreet chunks.

Among the products I designed:

  • the Social Sidebar: growing the user population by encouraging invitation of the user's Facebook friends.
  • the Follow/following function: growing community and content discovery through publication of the user's viewing profile
  • user messaging standards: creating patterns for directive and error messaging and creating a more effective registration funnel.

I also undertook several rounds of user research including sessions targeted at 18-22 year olds focusing on their cross device behaviors, media and web viewing habits.
