While working on the Nimbus project, I researched the product landscape, looking at OS and OS Agnostic Competitors. Focusing on both existing and announced features, the key take away was that photo meta data, exif and consumer provided, was underutilized.

The grail in any photo application is meaning and retrieval:

  • Use the meta data
  • Apply GPS data (yes that fine line between useful and creepy)
  • Ask the consumer to apply meaning in context - Dave, we noticed you uploaded 300 photos that were all taken in two hours. Would you like to name this event?
